Customer-centric Websites
Amatheon Veterinary Distributors wanted to redesign their website to present a more polished company image and add an on-line shopping option for customers.
The Goal
One of the key challenges of this site was to present the company in an appealing way, but in doing so not detract from the main goal of the site - driving sales and capturing orders from a mostly established customer base. The home page was structured accordingly, limiting the company information to the top benefits of ordering from Amatheon, placing the key navigation links and product specials highlights in extremely prominent positions and keeping the Flash animation we added confined to just the top banner.
With the unique shopping cart requirements in mind, we crafted the back-end shopping functionality leveraging software from Ecreations Software. Customers can browse items for sale, but only those registered with Amatheon can place and fulfill orders from the website.
A highlight of product specials is presented on the homepage as well as a full listing on a dedicated "Specials" page. Using PERL we created an interface that allows Amatheon to easily and quickly update and edit their product specials on their own.
